You have an opinion; game mods had facts we can't share.
We'll need to agree to disagree, as I can't share our proof.

It would probably calm the RHP community a lot down seeing 'reputable' players being banned with the simple statment - We've got the facts' -

If a human (below 2000) has an incredible match with one of those high-tech chess programmes, I would like to see those games posted and analysed (preferably with notes for even beginners to understand) ... At least you could post the games analysed ...
And there is no manual to cheating (in my opinion) ... Either you turn on your engine or you don't

There are rumours abound that the moderators are using SpyWare to detect what you have running on PCs.
Russ has stated that no spyware gets installed, and I believe that. What I think the mod meant by watching the player cheat was that Russ has provided a tool to show that a user clicked on the 'get pgn' button, and then his next move matched whatever engine they think he is using.
As I stated before, this "tool" shouldn't be relied on until the new version of Analyse Board is released, as the current version is worthless and complex positions require examing a multitude of lines with software like chesspad.

This is a serious allegation, and if there is any truth in it I will definately be leaving the site.
For RHP to use spyware would be wrong, and probably illegal.
Saying that I can't imagine the mods being that extreme.
edit: you beat me to it. i'm sure they've thought of your point, and wouldn't be basing any decision on when people request pgns etc...
Originally posted by knightwestI think this is unlikely. Partly because on many operating system/browser combinations it is not actually possible to run "spyware", at least not without being detected easily. Secondly, I don't think there would be much point in doing it anyway. Many people have access to more than one computer so could play on one and cheat on the other if so inclined.

Originally posted by RagnorakBut then what happens if you are exporting the PGN into a database of several million GM and IM games that then gives you a move that an engine would probably make as well? This could be construed as cheating but there is still no actual proof. Where do you draw the line?

Originally posted by Freddie2004I guess when you do that in the opening, no one cares. When you do that a couple times in the later stages of the game, it looks suspicious.
