Do you have a salmon ladder?
No answer, of course.

I've tried it but any pull up movement that has swinging or "kipping" does not benefit an arm wrestler.
That is more of a cross fit movement.

Arm Wrestling is about locking your arm in place and using your body to pin your opponent.
So our training is very strict movement with a small range of motion.
Allowing your arm to be fully extended is not the best method for arm wrestling.

So static holds at the top and then partial reps is better.
Obviously we do full range of motion and such but never swinging our body or using momentum.

The cross fit "pull ups" are a joke.
Yes it can be hard but strict no swinging pull ups are harder.

You know what a climbing peg board is?

That is best for arm wrestling training.
Your body stays tight...elbows tucked in...
Small range of motion like arm wrestling.

Way harder than some fish ladder. You can't use momentum on a peg board. You can't swing on a peg board.
Also, when you remove a peg you're essentially holding your bodyweight with one arm for a split second.
(Obviously we leave our legs dangling...I've seen people use their legs while climbing a peg board and that is ridiculous and pointless)

Some who arm wrestles, wouldn't be into martial arts or boxing. I could see them in wrestling however, where you just hold each other. 🙂

@Very-Rusty

Good arm wrestlers are too tight and stiff for boxing or MMA.
Some arm wrestlers can't even straighten their arm all the way.
Injuries happen all of the time.

You really have to love the sport or it isn't worth it really 🤔

My brother that arm wrestled was really into it. His arms were probably double the size of mine. In high school they had a arm wrestling contest and he won it beating his phis ed Teacher. He was probably 15 or 16 at the time, strong as a bull as the saying goes. He couldn't fight, but you didn't want to let him get his arms around you as you'd never get out of it.

@Very-Rusty

I was 16 when I beat my dad.
We never really talked after that 🤔

If you're swinging on a salmon ladder, you're doing it wrong.

There's also no "fully extended arms".

They all swing. They all use momentum to help.

I've seen cross fit and all of the pull up movements they use momentum.

AW is about keeping your arm locked.

Those cross fit exercises are hard but they are not beneficial to an arm wrestler.

Static holds are best for AW.

Curl your arm to your chin without touching your chin. Now keep that position with a lot of weight trying to open your arm.

That is AW training.
It's all about static holds.

If you do, you're doing it wrong.

If you can't do it without swinging, then you clearly can't do it.

Peg board looks and sounds like it's made for people who can't handle the salmon ladder. I'm gonna have to make my own to check it out. I'm not getting raped by these so-called fitness companies that want 300 bucks for one.

@Suzianne

Did you watch the video I posted?

That video above ⬆️ is proper AW training.

I'm not saying your exercises are easier or not good.
I'm saying AW training is about staying locked in tight...elbows in...static holds.

Sport specific training.

Nope. People who swing on a salmon ladder clearly can't do it. Get off and make way for someone that can do it without being a pussy.
