Your conclusion is totally unwarrented by this verse. The verse you cite mentions nothing about believing not being good enough.

... have dictated that your topics must dwell in the General forum populated mainly by drivel...
Could a moderator please move this thread to the Debates forum. It is for threads such as this that it was created in the first place: we in the General forum prefer our "drivel" without the vitriol.

I was about to write the same thing but Toe preceded me.
Give us back our drivel threads!I don't want to have religious spamming even in this forum, debaters should be caged like an endangered species in the Debates forum...........they can't survive outside of it.

This is all I could think of:
Luke 7:21-23

At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits ...[text shortened]... d will not delay. So you need to be ready for when Jesus Comes Rent the Movie (Left Behind)
Look, RBHill, unless you learn the difference between accept and except, you're going to continue to look like a complete idiot. If you use them properly, you may get off with looking like only a partial idiot. Here is a sample instructive sentence for you:

I would accept god into my heart, except for the fact that he doesn't exist.

You see how that works?

I feel like the Roman centurian who's trying to teach Brian some Latin grammar in Monty Python's Life Of Brian.

Rob,

And your conclusion is going above and beyond what the verse says or do you know better than the author of James?

It was moved here because a mod locked it in the debates forum. A bible study thread has no place there. I wonder if Russ should create a bible study forum. BTW, do you mind telling me what EXACTLY makes this (a non-debate topic) have to do with the debate forum? Is it just the topic that doesn't belong in the general forum?

Andrew,

So I guess that means although it is not a debate, the debate forum is an appropriate place for the trash of the general forum?

Feivel,

To be honest, I would agree with what you alluded to in the other thread, I do not think, personally, it should be on any RHP forum at all.

If we are going to have to accept this religious spamming as the new norm at RHP then Russ needs to look at setting up a new forum. From a commercial point of view I am sure many new potential subscribers could be put off joining a chess site due to the religious baggage that seems to have become attrached.

I mean it seems that a certain "member" is now sending personal messages to people to try and convert them if they disagree with thier religious view! Thats just unacceptable in my view.

I agree that a thread such as this should seek a new home, but I don't feel it's fair to denigrate it as spamming. Nobody forced anyone to open the thread and read it...by the subject of the thread everyone knows what kind of controversy they may encounter when viewing it. Besides I come here to play chess, not spend my time reading threads πŸ˜› (before you lambast me, the only reason I'm reading this now is because none of my opponents have moved)

In this particular thread the topic is clear .. with a lot of other it isn't. Some topics got hijacked by religious discussion when the opening of the topic had very little to to with it. These topics get infected by this religion "discussion" which basicly is no discussion at all but just a yes - no quarrel ... and the thread ends up dead.
