@Arkturos saidWent from Thailand to Apollo Tracking and Timing till Nixon killed Apollo, So been around the world three times, a couple years on Andros Island, British submarine base there called AUTEC Atlantic Underwater test evaluation center.
Wow, khrub!
Great job.
And the stint in Thailand and 3 years in Jerusalem, contractor for Intel, my company, Varian, working on ion implanters in Intel clean room, taught physics of ion implanters in classroom as well as teaching hands on maintenance on the ion implanter.
We also found the local folk music community and we played folk music all over Israel including the biggest folk festival in Israel, Jacobs Ladder, we played there 3 years running.
@sonhouse saidMr. Sonhouse, it seems that you are not just some years older than me, but maybe also a few lifetimes older. 😉

May I ask what your Thai nickname was, if you had one?
(and of course we should get back to the music party sometime soon, but I'm glad that we have crossed paths, even though I feel like such an undeveloped clod now 😉 )
@Arkturos saidah, I am still a young punk, only 84🙂 Did I tell you about my sound cloud account? I have a lot of tracks there.

@sonhouse saidYeah yeah, you did, but there's only so much space on my fridge. Over here I have two or three thousand books and I have hardly read any of them. (I guess sometime relatively soon I should try to find better homes for the rarities.) Also, I bought dozens of record albums on vinyl after I retired and haven't even played many of those.

So, it's not so much that I'm not interested in listening to your output, as that in this current passage of life I don't seem to be receptive in general -- but I do appreciate your posts and attempts to share!
Edit: I hope that didn't come across as flippant or dismissive. I should probably call you "uncle", shouldn't I? 😉
@Arkturos saidwhich is totally valid POV. Have to see my wife, in pain. Good night.

@sonhouse saidYeah, in fact a while ago (years, maybe?) we exchanged Soundcloud links (my scraps there are very old news), but there's so much to take in and so much on offer (in general, not just there) that I hope you understand I lack the capacity to be receptive to everything, especially when it comes to items that involve some duration of attention to appreciate.

I wish I did have greater capacity. I wish I could be more places at once, to enjoy the experiences here and there around the globe and elsewhere. It doesn't quite work for me to console myself by thinking: well, other people are already having those experiences, so there's no need for you to do that as an outsider.
As for this thread, maybe I could just say I am (passively) listening to whatever I hear in my head -- which is not to say I never hear external sounds such as bird-talk or the thrumming of motors now and then -- or the clink of a spoon in a teacup in another room when I'm the only one in the house, or an electrical "pop" in the middle of the air.
