Surfing music was quite a fad in the mid 1960s. I was listening to Neil Sedaka's "Surfin' Fort Lauderdale" today. The cover has Neil standing on a white sand beach in his swimming trunks and yarmulke, holding a silver & blue checked surfboard. Lotsa fun. 😉
Strange. Paul Dirac was a neighbour of mine at Cambridge. He got his PhD with a thesis which consisted on one quarter of a sheet of fullscap - the shortest the PhD thesis in the University, for which he won the Nobel Prize. But I saw no mention of surfing music in the thesis, it was just about relativity pumping up the waves.
