I'm half-way through the story and I love every sentence.
It's heartbreaking and beautiful.

The Lonely City: Adventures in the Art of Being Alone, by Olivia Laing

"... Humane, provocative and deeply moving, The Lonely City is about the spaces between people and the things that draw them together, about sexuality, mortality and the magical possibilities of art..."

Is Frederick Forsyth a favourite of yours? If so, I think you will enjoy 'Avenger' (2004). I have read it three times at least and I never get tired of it - I think it's because I love heroes.

I'm putting this book aside for a while to read Dennis Lehane's latest book 'Since We Fell' (2017) - irresistable.

I’m reviewing The Playmaker by Thomas Keneally. I read it many years ago and this revisit is enjoyable.
