Let me quote from Wikipedia:
"Our Kind of Traitor is a 2016 British spy thriller film directed by Susanna White and written by Hossein Amini, based on John le Carré's 2010 novel of the same name. Starring Ewan McGregor, Naomie Harris, Stellan Skarsgård, Damian Lewis and Alicia von Rittberg." In this film I believe we see John Le Carré himself acting in a tiny role, the way Alfred Hitchcock used to do in some of his films.
Recently:
"The Dead Don't Die" (Jarmusch, 2019) -- Great cast, low-key dead-pan commentary, and maybe not completely successful, but appreciative and comfortable.
"Dune Part 2" (Villeneuve) -- It seems that thumpers are cheaper than both water and Shai-Hulud greenies. Chani rode off in a huff, and who wouldn't?
Oh! I should mention that recently I subbed to Paramount Plus to watch "Section 31" -- but that starts off so boringly and with no incentive to continue that I might have to give it another try before the month runs out. But what could anyone expect? MY quipping as only MY can do? That's not quite enough. Sincerely, I hope that Michelle Yeoh has not become overplayed already.
While we're talking movies, recently I also watched "The Snowman" with Michael Fassbender (haven't read the novel). Great cast, beautifully filmed, but the premise is kind of hokey (as presented in the movie). However, I especially appreciate the very cool traveling shot of Harry and his nearly adopted son Oleg framed in the doors of a train at night during a back-and-forth conversation -- in retrospect, there must have been some movie magic involved, and learning something about their relationship in that movie gave me some background in case I ever read "Phantom" (of which I have a hardcover on one of my more proximal reading stacks).
Finally endured "Section 31" from start to finish. So badly conceived and written, probably by a committee of people who all flunked Screenwriting 101. What a bad idea to give Philippa such a backstory to make her more "sympathetic" or whatever the intention was. Some characters should never have explanatory backstories (The Joker would be another in my view, but too late for that one).
Next up: not sure yet. Maybe "Made in Hong Kong" by Fruit Chan.
The major streaming services are so expensive now. Luckily, there are some that cost about five dollars a month (even without ads) AND have things that I would want to watch (I don't think I can mention any, though, because that might be considered advertising).
@Arkturos
If it was so bad why did you endure it?
I take the liberty to switch of any movie or series if I am not convinced that it entertains me.
@Ponderable saidI'm a fan of Michelle Yeoh and the better shows of the Star Trek "franchise" and I guess I just hoped it would get better (it did not). I was predisposed to like it, but now I hope they do not proceed with a "Section 31" series.

Otherwise, I usually do stop watching a show after 10 or 20 minutes if it's not for me or if it seems badly made.
Meanwhile, I have started watching "Danger Zone" (Taiwan, 2021), a police series with some grim elements and a little humor.
