I knew she was going to say yes even though we hadn't discussed it completely before I asked her. We had mentioned it in previous conversations and I had a strong indications that her answer would be yes.
Once we were engaged, we got married right away - in Vegas with Elvis, of course. We were married within a week.
(Originally, the plan was to have a small ceremony in the States. Las Vegas was a good location not just because of the legal convenience - she and I have no family in New York where we live. My family is in California a short distance from Vegas. After we were married in the States, we thought we would have a larger ceremony with her family in Brazil since a larger ceremony would have been for her anyway. As time has passed, however, we have decided that we would rather buy a home than have a big ceremony in Brazil or elsewhere. Plus, our nine minute wedding video kicks a$$.)
not quite married yet, but i went with the whole spontaneous thing. we knew we were going to get married, and we were pretty sure when (what with university, graduating etc it wasn't/isn't going to be until next summer) it was just a question of proposing. so we were walking on the beach when i came over all romantic got down on one knee, lost my nerve and -erm- forgot to actually propose. i think i said something along the lines of "you're going to spend the rest of my life with me, and i with you", put a ring on her finger, stood up, then kind of went into a daze for the next month. i never actually asked her...
my friends dad ran around the room screaming "what have i done?!? what have i done?!?" before telling his now-married-for-twenty-five-years wife not to tell anyone until he had come to terms with himself.
