I too think I have a very good collection of fiction! Plus reference books for my profession, and several non-fiction science and history books. The vast majority of my collection of over 3000 books is "Hard" science fiction. I have a complete collection of every word R A Heinlein ever published! Several first editions including a signed 1st of Sixth Column! Every word of SciFi Asimov ever published as well as several signed first editions! Plus almost a hundred of his non-fiction books! A not quite complete works of Spider Robinson with two inscribed 1sts. And Every word published by the team of Larry Niven and Jerry Pourenelle, as those two together, make one RAH!!! They're the only thing since 1988 worth as much as a new Heinlein!! And several other authors are well represented too. I have ALL A C Clarke's older books written by him but, after reading "Cradle" supposedly by Clarke and Lee I said never again!
PS: My most prized posession: A 1st Ed., Gnome Press, 1950, I Robot, in VG condition by Asimov. Adell price: $2,850 in 1996. The Sixth Column is also by Gnome Press, 1948 or 7, I'm goin' from memory here!

The most expensive books on my shelves are some scholarly encyclopedias to which I've contributed articles, else I would never own them. The most valuable (measured by resale value) are several autographed first edition hardbacks of poetry and fiction by Sherman Alexie. The best books on my shelves were written by a dead guy from Mississippi named William Faulkner.
