Oh yea, Very nice. Sorry the name didn't stick in my mind. I knew Lindesy Buckingham and Stevie Nicks music much better.

And your point is what? That you forgot we had a discussion? I don't recall discussing Peter Green with you. But if you say we did then show me and I will say oh OK we did. *Shrugs.*

Not in the time Hendrix was alive he wasn't. Of Course Page did copy Hendrix. Like he copied others on most of his stuff, including Stairway to Heaven. Now he copied well. And he arranged well. But he copied non the less. And was sued for it several times.
Well at the time Chicago first came out and opened up for Hendrix in the late 60's ( they were Chicago Transit Authority then) Hendrix himself mentioned that the guitarist for Chicago was better than he was. Robin Trower is a great guitarist as far as I'm concerned but I bet theres a lot of people here on this site who never heard of him.

Do I sense a little jealousy here? It's not my fault Jimi shot up one too many times. I also saw Joplin in 69 also. I guess thats my fault also right?

I don't know. I think he lied. I used to gag when I listened to Chicago. Although, I knew many people who liked Chicago. But I wasn't a fan. When did Robin Trower play for Chicago? Are you sure you are not talking about Terry Kath? I liked the other City better with Tom Scholz. ( Boston)

I thought she was awesome. I saw her in Macon, GA. Otis Redding opened up for her I believe.

No I never meant that Trower played for Chicago. I was just saying that there are other guitarists that kicked butt in that era. Yes Kath was the one who Hendrix mentioned. Yes I think Boston was a better band also.

What a show!!

Trower was excellent. I still listen to Bridge of Sighs quite often. Trower was definitely influenced by Hendrix.

The Allman Brothers current have two tremendous guitarists: Derick Trucks and Warren Haynes. Trucks has some jazz licks in his playing and Haynes is a monster guitarist. I can't reccomend what they are playing enough. I'm sure that it is the best guitar playing going today.

Yeah I grew up with in Macon when the Allman Brothers was there along with Marshall Tucker, and Wet Willie. Derrick Trucks is the Nephew of original drummer Butch Trucks. He studied under Dickie Betts when he was a kid. Bridge of Sighs is an awesome album.

You know, If there is ever a conclusion. I think it is that the 50's - 80's were an Awesome time for great rock and guitar players. There was like top dog, JH and then second tier everyone else. That was just a sweet era. There has been a few stragglers. But I think Rap has basically ruined most of it.

well-i wouldn't have minded seeing jimi live...

however-it's more that you are stating your opinion as fact. each guitarist was different. you claim that the only reason jimi is legendary is because he was black and died young. however, it was he who pretty much started hard rock.

also, jimi was a band unto himself, whilst jimmy was part of one.

anyway-i've been dragged into an argument about opinions thus i shan't reply to any more posts about opinions. so naah-naah-nah-naah-nah! 😞

I remember reading that Hendrix said that the guitarist from ZZ Top was the best living guitarist.
Perhaps he just liked to compliment other musicians 😉
