I lived on Boston for 5 or 6 years. I was right in the heart of the city, but across the street we had public gardens where for $15 a year, you could get your own (fenced-in) plot of land (maybe 15x10 feet) and grow whatever you wanted (within reason). The Museum of Fine Arts was directly across the gardens. Great clubs and bars right around the corner. ...[text shortened]... and countryside. Great place to live.
