The rest are to be mixed.
Bourbon, as Scotch, should not be mixed. Some allow an ice cube or two, but the better the quality (both the drink and the drinker), the less ice.

But I'd almost rather drink cheap beer than cheap liquor in a mixer. I can drink cheap rum, paint thinner vodka, and gin a proper Englishman wouldn't wash his dog with. But I ...[text shortened]... can't go back. I don't even want the ice cube defiling my single malt 12 year old scotch!
here here to the good stuff. one of the worst realizations of my life was that the $50 bottle of tequila is worth it. I'd always thought of tequila as a kindof diesel, but the good stuff is so smoooth...oh so smoooth.

I was always under the impression if someone wanted to stop drinking you try drinking scotch whiskey because I would rather stop drinking rather than have to swallow that gawld awful poison. Now Tequila my favorite next to Tennessee sour mash Bourbon whiskey (Jack Daniels)is another story. Either one will make you get up and dance on the chess board. Just be careful not to trip. 😕

I have to say I prefer beer whilst I'm playing, or maybe a decent glass of port if I'm feeling pretentious! 🙂

You should be beaten with dead dog for saying that.

For me, that goes for any alcoholic beverage.

Edit: I wonder what I should be beaten with. On second thought, I don't think I want to know.

Technically you are correct. Tequila is a type of mescal. Worms are not allowed in production of tequila only in some brands of Mescal unless you dig one up and drop it in. Which I don't, but I didn't think anyone cared enough to spoil my joke. 😛 But just because you did I am going to give everyone a recipe guaranteed to make them smash their scotch bottles into the fireplace preferably full.😛

How to make the perfect margarita!

1. Fill shaker with broken cubed ice.
2. Squeeze TWO fresh lime wedges into shaker.
3. Savor the fresh lime aroma (AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!)
4. Add 2 oz. Cuervo 1800.
5. Sniff the cork.
6. Add 1/2 oz. of Jose Cuervo White if ya wish (white for bite!).
7. Add 1-1/4 oz. of Roses Lime Juice (accept no substitutes!).
8. Add 1/2 oz. of Bols Triple Sec (nothing but the best!).
9. Add "a splash" of Bols Orange Curaco (shh... secret ingredient).
10. Cover shaker tightly!
11. Shake vigorously.
12. Flip shaker in midair twice (three times if you're a pro).
13. Uncover shaker and savor the flavor!
14. Rim glass with Lime peel (outside only!).
15. Salt the outside only.
16. Add fresh ice.
17. Strain mixture over ice.
18. Squeeze in 1 lime wedge and toss rind over left shoulder.
19. Now kick back, turn up the tunes and enjoy!

Please do not ruin it with lemons it is a margaritaville unpardonable crime. [Shivers]

So, what's a good bourbon or scotch to try? I drink vodka or wine, usually. I won't drink Jack Daniel's. One incident back in high school has left me scarred; I can't even smell it w/o my mouth watering in preparation for a good hurl.

Laphroaig is my favorite scotch.
