I don't see racism in asromacalcio's inquire. The guy is a very nice
English teacher that travels the world meeting new people, so I think
his question is most likely to do with cultural differences in
ways of behaving, talking, embracing foreigners and making friends,
not in racial superiority or something like that.
I have had very nice relations with Italians, in my experience,
asroma, but it may be in my case because I share with them some
cultural affinities, so I feel 'at home' amongst italians.

Originally posted by StarrmanOk, fair comment, but what I was saying was that these qualities are more in abundance in certain ethnic groups than in others, in my experience and opinion.
There's no way I could group people by their nationality for something as arbitrary as how much I like them. I like people who are polite, sincere, relaxed, non-invasive, loyal, moral and interesting.
If you meet people of different ethnicity in a single place, like London, you are likely to see them all as part of the whole rather than belonging to any definite group. Unfortunately, not enough people do this.
But travelling to other countries gives you more information.
It really has nothing to do with reinforcing ethnic divide. I've met very few ethnic groups who don't have a strong sense of identity with their ethnicity and often nationality. Where I state that I consider Afghans more friendly than Italians or the Brits does not mean that I think they are better, or even different inherently. It just means that having encountered many people who have proudly told me of their nationality etc, I have found those purporting to be Afghans to be absolute courtesy personified.
