No self respecting dog would ever tolerate living like that. I was going to say something about the people who lived there , but it's West Virginia and I didn't want to be redundant.

I have cats. Ever thought the cats had no choice but to live there.
It doesn't say in the article, but I imagine they were locked in.

Your comparison to 'self-respecting' dogs is invalid in that case.
I don't know of any cats that would voluntarily live like that either.

A dog, as soon as the crap started to pile dangerously, would break his way out of the house and go poop somewhere else. The neighbor's frontyard, perhaps.

You're right on that count, cats need and prefer to live in clean environments, they tend to get ill pretty quickly if they dont. I'm not surprised at the poor level of heal some of these cats were found in, nor am I surprised by the death of two of them.

I'd like to know how any self respecting person can live in that degree of filth...
