Apart from the fact that the topic is a joke, I will answer seriously.
The "alfabet" as we know it was created by Phoenecians, a group of Indo-Europeans living in the Levantine region north of the more famous Israelites. The Phoenecian alphabet was quite a bit different, and their language was worlds different.
The Phoenecians were quite the traders, however, and over time ancient Greeks saw the value of importing their written alphabet. They designated letters phonetically ('a' makes the ah sound, etc...) according to their language. The Greek alphabet is much more famous, yet still slightly different. Letters like the Greek 'alpha' looks very much like our 'A', and anyone can see the evolution 'delta' would take from a triangle to the 'D' as we know it.
The Romans were heavily influenced by the Greeks, and took their alphabet from them. Quickly the alphabet became what we know of it. 26 letters, in shapes we know.

There's no such thing as an English alphabet. We use the Roman alphabet with some modifications. However I would suggest switching some letters and using them in place of others. How about:

This forum subject is just another pointless and absurb topic like so many others on this site. Not to be taken seriously and only meant to waste the precious minutes of your life taken to read this swill. By reading some of the bilge on here I realize now that I am not the only one with no life outside of Red Hot Pawn. Although, the fact that many of you have taken it seriously and actually responded with facts and intelluctal posts scares and concerns me. Lighten up.
Let's take the other approach, there are about 44 actual sounds in English, we get some of them by doubling and others you just have to learn each word where they appear. If we got 18 new letters everybody would be able to spell our new fonetik inglish (inglish needs a letter for ng and one for sh, for example). Who wants to design the 18 new letters?
