The top 4 teams in salary have made it to the playoffs 13 times while the bottom 11 teams in salary have made it 6 times.

More to the point, in the past 5 years, we've only seen 3 teams not in the top 4 in salary make the playoffs.

Heartburn. The Mets' 2007 payroll was more than the Diamondbacks and Rockies combined. 😞

They made the playoffs.. the Mets didn't.

Listen, you're post again proves that money is 'important' but also proves it doesn't mean a lot. You need quality, and you need to pay for quality. If a salary cap were instated, it would still be far more than 'cheap' teams are willing to pay for. That cap would probably be douple or quadruple the money small market teams pay.

They are not going to tell teams to only spend 50M, it's just not going to happen. The Jays need to invest money, and they need to spend it right. If you want to keep throwing numbers that try to prove your point, why not throw some real numbers out. How many teams in the top 5 paid have not made it? How often are teams like White Sox paying big money but can't make it?

Sox and Yanks and some other teams are spending some money, but they are also spending it right now. They spent money, and spent it wrong and didn't make it. It's up to the teams to spend money as an investment and get fans in the seats. From there, there is a lot of profit to be made.

If there were a salary cap, it's still going to be much more than anything these low-profile teams are willing to spend, and that's their problem if someone has a team they can't invest in. Other than that, you're just taking money away from the players that risk injury playing just about every day for half the year. MLB has the most games in a season, and the games are long and demanding.

That game was close... more like what I expected from the first game. I hope the Rocks can take at least 2 at home to send this back to Boston, I don't want people blaming the loss on 9 days of rest and rust.

Let's take the day off!

I kind of hope so... cuz if it's Sox in 4, everyone is going to whinge about the rust and dust.

Losers!
