It's a bit of a side issue to this thread but after 20 OTB games this season I have to say I'm not convinced the recent change in British grading procedures has led to uniformly reliable grades.
I do agree with the general principle of the original post however. For the record I'm Brian (and so is my wife).

I'm having a great time feasting on the 150s who were 120 last season - my grade for the season so far is just over 200! (though I've only played six games).

Glen Ivan Nowakowski
No FIDE grade, No USCF grade,
My uncle, is Greg Nowak of Missoula Montana, currently rated ~2200 with rare
playing opppertunities to raise his rating (which raises every time he does get the
chance)... any study will show his play is probably nearer the 2400 mark.
So, thats me, as useless as the info is...and some of my lineage.

Hi - it was a wee bit tongue in cheek but some have joined in.
And why not - it's good to put a name to a post and we can look out
for each other in tournament reports.
Makes it more friendly, would you use a box v a friend?
Someone posted on another thread why the big deal chasing cheats.
My main bug v cheats is this.
You use a box to get a high impressive grade on here.
Then you start offering yourself as teacher charging money.
Players take you up on this and get fed crap that does them no good at all.
Infact bad advice can take many painful games to correct.
Another scenario is a box user gets a 2400 grade and posts on here a list of
books he thinks are good.
Weaker players influenced by the numbers could spend hard earned cash
buying them and finding them useless.
So it was a bit of a gag but when you think about it, it would stop those
blatant cheats who do it for a laugh - get caught and simply re-join under a
new name.
