There were suggestions from some GM's that the match should continue with 3-1 score. Based on what?
Based on the fact that the appeals board illegally changed the conditions agreed upon on by both parties based on groundless paranoia presented by the trailing player. Kramnik refused to play any game that was not played under the agreed upon conditions, as was his legal right.

Nevertheless the illegal game that commenced by the same organization who facilitated the appeals committee's ill-willed discretions - and - that was never graced by a single move from either player was awarded to the party who incited the incident!!!

So the game is on "under protest"

Rather unusual Slav with a quick exchange of Queens. Yasser seems to think White has a slight advantage, but it looks like an early endgame where Kramnik has outplayed Topalov so far. Kramnik is blitzing; he's only used 4 minutes for his first 12 while Topalov is close to a half hour in.

I dont get why some of you choose to blame topalov for low attacks against kramnik.
it was the Appeals Committee that decided to change the restroom setup for the fifth game and kramnik who decided to not make a single move on fifth game.
All topalovs team ever did was to issue a protest.

Here's why.

Topalov believes the above position is a win for him, because Kramnik strolled about in a toilet in another game. Oh, and then Topalov threatened to leave the World Championship if his crony Kirsan didn't agree.

Topalov seems to be in a nice position after 14 moves with his pieces well developed and in control of the center. Only fly in the ointment is he is going up on 45 minutes used already while Kramnik has used only 7 (!).

We'll see if he plays Bb4 now after 18 Na4 or exchanges on d4.

I enjoyed this letter on chessbase a lot.

Open Letter of Support to Vladimir Kramnik from Grandmaster Colleagues.
October 2, 2006
Dear Vladimir,
We are writing as a small group of Grandmasters, but we believe that we represent the views of the vast majority of our colleagues. We simply wanted to let you know that we think you have suffered a gross injustice, and that you have our support.
We appreciate that you are now under immense psychological pressure, and that it must be difficult to continue to play well in the context of such blatant bias, unfairness, and hostility.
Good luck in the days ahead. If you manage to win in these circumstances you will be a worthy champion indeed.
Best wishes,
GM Jonathan Rowson (Scotland)
GM Peter Heine Nielsen (Denmark)
GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway)
GM Jan Gustafsson (Germany)
GM Tomi Nyback (Finland)
GM Luke McShane (England)
GM Loek Van Wely (Netherlands

Topalov's 19 Nb6 is going to lead to a minor piece bloodbath. This game might not go 30 moves.
