Game 2292449 July 21st 2006 and still only move 16.

If it lasts 50 moves it might finish December 2008 when round 2 in the tournament can commence.

Rumour has it that these opponents use Cryogenic Freezing, and thaw out once a year to move.

Just imagine how long it would take if I took as long as him to move. We'd only be on move 8 now.

Like you, I will resign my round 2 games immediately (and presumably not lose any rating points for it)

Ugg I typically enter any tournament with the word "duel" in the title. This landed me in a couple of long hauls... just terrible. I won't be entereing any more of those.

One working strategy of the long haul is to outlive your opponents, Physically!

I was reading one of my latest Chess Life magazines and the latest golden knights champion (Durbin?) mentioned that strategy.🙄

I've created 10 games at 21/28.

1 smart player deleted and another has already resigned.

8 players are now left.

Who will last the longest?

I may be one of the few on the site that like 21/21 games. In fact most of my games now are that timeframe. It does take patience. Most players I have played play it as a 3/0 game though. 21/21 just allows for deep analysis of a critical position. It also allows for having loads of games and never worrying about timing out.

For the open invites I do state 'LONG GAME' in the title as some have accepted it and not seen the TO/TB settings.

Sounds like a waste of time to me.

3/14 or something similar is just as good for deep analysis. Just play less games.

21/21 games might take years to complete and how much will you really learn from them?

Might as well play several 3/14 games in that time and get more practise.

I only play 1/7 and now trying out 1/14.

The longer timers are to boring for my taste. Perhaps that's why you guys play tons of games all at once with your super long timers.

Worst case scenario is when a vastly superior player with half a thousand games is waiting to play you on a siege board. I'm on blue board 14/7 at the moment and waiting for APB to move is a bit like the opening scene in Sir Gawaine and the Green Knight - make a puny move, then wait a solar year before your opponent replies with annihilating force.
