Magician beats nine chess experts

Only Chess

I'm pretty sure everyone here will figure out this guys trick in the first 2 minutes of the vid.

I'd like to see him pull the same trick using proper simul rules (him playing white on all boards).

Interesting video. I wonder how long it took the participants to figure out how he did it.

I think the players playing black immediately knew what was going on. Even the white players if you think about it. They make their first move while magic man watches. Then he doesn't move right away and instead goes onto the next board. That's just too suspicious and very unnatural in a simul.

still funny as hell

I think the junior player is probably mortified by Brown saying that he played and beat him for real because he was the weakest one there.

Somebody played this trick on here. If I remember correctly, Cludi was one of the victims.

I don't recall, I'm afraid. He should have done.

Yeah, saw this a couple of years ago.

Good idea, they probably though "With 1 year of preperation hes going to beat my lifetime study of the game???"

lol good vid.

While I understand what he did, I am still surprised that it worked. By his own admission, he was mirroring the GM play for each side except for table 9. Beating that player is no small feat.

What made me laugh was his slightly unconvincing introduction - normally he's very convincing indeed, but the perfunctory lie "I've studied all your games" was rendered pretty transparent by the follow-up: "What's your name?"

This might be worthy of the puzzles forum. Some of the smart guys there could take a whack at it.
