This is getting confusing when people don't say which puzzle is being discussed. Anyway, please note SG's comment regarding his problem. And if you're talking about the OP problem, there's not a mate-in-1 if the sides are reversed. So I guess it would take me a loooong time to find it.

I'm never in favour of PM'ing the solution to the guys.
They miss the pleasure, the magic moment.

Look at the position and by deduction (solving).
Figure out what White's last move must have been.
Then, as if by witchcraft, the mate in one will appear...

Sorry If I've give too many clues SG but some of the lads are toiling.
Fear they might just give up thinking there is a trick in the wording
or the board is round the wrong way.

It's not, it's a sound position with a perfectly legal solution.

Of course is it.

You would not expect SG to drop any old mate in one on the forum.

I can only see a mate in 2 with the pawn promotion to Q (or R) on f8, check, which is blocked by Nf7, then QxN mate.

The answer lies in understanding your opponents last move. Some hints were provided earlier.

Once I saw a number of hints starting with the same 2 letters the penny dropped straight away.
