I can't see how playing another person over and over again will distort the ratings in any way. As long as there is no secret pact between the players and they just honestly enjoy eachothers company there should be no problem.

My conclusion? If I were you, I'd continue doing what you've been doing, and enjoy playing your son.
That was my conclusion as well. I am guessing that those who think that anyone who plays someone repeatedly is cheating would have thought that Korchnoi and Karpov were cheating in 1978.

I have played my son 42 times. I guess that this would be considered selective pairing (he selects me) but most of the games have been unrated so not rating manipulation. I see no reason why i should not play the same player repeatedly if we both enjoy playing each other.
Your games are unrated. Others are playing rated games. The guy who reached 3000 Elo on this site was doing exactly that. Nobody would have batted an eyelid if those games were unrated.

See the Wikipedia article on elo for the part about selective pairing.
Sorry to have opened Pandora's Box here. The opponent I've played 47 times has become a good mate. We enjoy the in-game messaging as much as we do the games themselves, and always analyse exhaustively by pm after the event. Also, he's no n00b - his OTB elo is >2100.

Cheers, chaps...

It's my opinion that, even if all 42 of Kepler's games with his son were rated, it still wouldn't significantly affect his rating, since most of his games were played against players from the general player pool. Of course, I'm assuming that both he and his son are playing in an honest fashion.

I'd be dissapointed if z00t wasn't still using all sorts of stupid evidence that has nothing at all to do with a player playing one user over and over in legitimate games.

Keep up the good work z00t, and by good I mean extremely stupid.

Don't worry Korch the clowns in the General Forum want to set up a Padding Anonymous. Do you want an invitation? You have to be a padder but you haven't declared any padding yet.

z00t, cover your eyes now.

I have played the same guy 63 times.

I also don't care whether you consider this padding.
