I have three skulls I can click on ... I am trying to resist ... and I amenjoying seeing them build up ... I bet some people have lots in front of them, and never click any.
How many have you got?
Originally posted by ThudanBlunderWell if your as good as you "sound" then I'm sure you will find some nice well-manered players that resign lost games.

Originally posted by flexmoreWell, I've seen some of them, yes, but not for long. I click them right away and collect the rating points.

--- UNLESS --- they are on vacation and clearly states when they will come back. But those I haven't seen so far.
I am on this opinion that we have agreed upon the time limits when we start the game. That agreement stays until the game is finished.

Originally posted by ThudanBlunderBeginners never resign even OTB because they don't realise their position is hopeless but any half decent player on this site or anywhere else will resign once a position is a certain loss.

Players are no different on RHP than anywhere else.
Join the site play a few games and get your rating up then enter 1600+ tournaments and you will find players do resign lost positions.
Originally posted by Sicilian SmaugTom the wizard? I have one against him now that i haven't clicked. If his rating takes a nose dive i'll click it, but it feels rude to do it before.
I've got 2 coming up against a guy on vacation. And 2 more soon against a certain 1800s player that regularly goes missing and timed out down to 800.
The latter I will click for certain and the vacation ones I will probably struggle with my concience then have a few beers and click them anyway.
Clicking on skulls is only half the fun.....what I really enjoy are the messages you get from the loser afterwards, crying about what a dick you were for doing it. I message them back telling them how much fun I had taking the win on time. This is especially entertaining if they were winning.
Originally posted by ThudanBlunderyou're not using your 6 game slots anyway, so what's the difference? it's not like someone playing a lost game was occupying a slot you could use for another game.

in 160 games, I've had one single opponent who dragged it to the end, using all timebank. don't know why, I sent a message "uh oh. that was an expensive pawn..." when he hogged one and lost the game. I guess it was too much... when I realized what he was doing, I figured out the quickest mate and executed it. he's of course on my ignore list now.
it's annoying of course, but in the end you'll get the win anyway, so why worry about it? and it doesn't really happen that often.
I click the skulls unless my opponent has asked for more time. any lame excuse will do, but if they don't ask zee schkull getz zit. mostly because I don't need the soul searching every time a skull appears, it's annoying and waste of time. so I decided on a policy and will stick to it.
Originally posted by JokerFiveI have never clicked a skull except when a player seemed to have just given up on the site. By the time I decided to click their rating had dropped from 1875 to 1300 and both my games were good wins, so lost out on some good rating points there.

I waited 2 weeks after the skull appeared before clicking. Their rating has since dropped to 1150.
Still don't believe in clicking skulls. The wins were not satisfying at all.

A win is a win, regardless of how it is won.
I am here to play chess and for no other reason.
A game that I could win over the board but which is won by clicking a skull gives me no satisfaction at all. If I play on and win I feel good!
A lost game won by clicking the skull is still a lost game. The only thing it gives me is a few rating points, no satisfaction and no pleasure from learning how to defend difficult positions.
The sort of person who has to win by clicking skulls is probably the sort of person who has to use an engine, i.e. not confident enough in their play to feel they can win over the board.
