I improved somewaht in my games, but still am 44,9...meaning playing stronger with black

WS= (116/302)=0,384
BS= (219/465)=0,471

score= 0,384/(0,384+0,471)=44,9

9 0 3 as white.
9 2 5 as black.

I generally feel more comfortable playing black so being below that 54% mark isn't suprising.

I think that's the lowest so far, my record is 13-1-7 as white and 30-3-5 as black if anyone wants to check my math.

What's happened here is that I play around half my games against friends here who are not as good as I am, and as partial compensation, I always play black in these games. Most games where I play white are tournament games where I'm playing someone who is at or above my level, so my record as white is more mixed.

If I could go back and compare to my record as of a year ago, I think it is getting "more even."

I just reran mine using only my last 810 games, the result were quite different.

Edited incorrect results...I must have gotten the formula wrong somewhere...oh well.

What is your score? And what does it tell you about your game, if anything?
51.39% (for white) for me. I don't really have a preference for white or the black pieces.

It would be interesting to see how the percentage would change if one would consider only games with players near one's rating or above one's rating.

If large game databases show that 'all things being equal white should trump black about 54% of the time', it would be interesting to see if the percentage would change if one would only consider games played by the highest level opponents (looking at how the percentage would change looking at chessplayers of various strengths).

(Edit: Also, in specific opening lines, some of the percentages of white winning over black are interesting. For example, King's Gambit Declined scores far better than King's Gambit Accepted for white, although both are perfectly viable openings (although as black I would prefer KG accepted), and some unsound openings/ gambits have scored well for white (for example, I think I recall Three Knights 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 Nc3 Nxe5 4 Nxe5 5 d4 scoring well for white, albeit due to probably weaker competition and preparation in black and the surprise value of the N sac.)

I found this:
http://www.chessbase.com/workshop2.asp?id=1120

Shirov: A90 ECO code. We see that Shirov wins 45.60% of his games as White in this opening and 16.50% when playing the Black pieces.

“Note that it's perfectly natural for the Black percentage to be much lower than the White figure. It's an old chess adage that you play for a win as White and for a draw as Black; top-level players typically follow this, which explains the disparity in the numbers.”

Of course, if we were all chess gods, we would score all 50%, drawing every game. I suppose the 54% standard accounts for human weakness and tendency to favor white; also as white goes first perhaps white can afford a loss of a bit more time.😕 Interesting stuff.🙂

score = WS/(WS+BS)

WS = (WW+WD/2)/WG = (47+3/2)/73 = 0.664
BS = (BW+BD/2)/BG = (47+5/2)/78 = 0.635

0.664/(0.664+0.635) = 0.511

quite even. it doesn't seem to matter much which color I'm playing.

Do your results conform to that? Here's a forumla to calculate your %preference for white?

Score = 100* WS/(WS+BS)

where WS = (WW+WD/2)/WG and
BS = (BW+BD/2)/BG
BG, BW, BD are black games, wins and draws, and
WG, WW, WD are white games, win ...[text shortened]... the latter.

What is your score? And what does it tell you about your game, if anything?
Is there a quick way to figure out my record on RHP?

Or do I have to go through each of my games?
