i play d4 as white recently, do you know any openings where it would feel like i was playing black? to me when you play black, white usually has a pawn in the middle before you do, i dont like being the first one with the pawn in the middle. so do you sugesst any moves other than with the e pawn, d pawn or c pawn?
Edit: i was thinking of starting with a fianchetto

41.1%? that sounds really bad, thats the lowest ive seen.

Since this thread was started I have gone:
.49345 --> .507998 --> .510530 --> 0.51216
(WW+WD/2)/WT = WC
(BW+BD/2)/BT = BC
WC / (WC+BC) = ANSWER
(380+84/2)/789 = 0.53485 = WC
(351+89/2)/783 = 0.50511 = BC
0.53485 / (0.53485+0.50511) = ANSWER = 0.5143
My Bird game continues to soar!

In the beginning of my play here, I preferred black because trying to find the best response to white's moves generally put me in a pretty decent position. As white, when forced to carry out an attack, I played pretty disastrously. Now as I learn more chess theory and since I've started to use databases my play as white has improved, and my score is rising.

51.16%
Fairly close to the expected norm of 54%. Lost 27 white games from 268 and 24 black games from 208 (so 31 losses expected from 268 black games). Draws from each identical at 42.
There are some black openings that I enjoy and get good results from whilst a couple of white openings that I should improve. I think I need to convert some of those white draws to wins.
