He was probably banned for abuse. He made it onto my short list of ignored players after multiple PMs trying to attack my military record. It all started from me giving K&P a little guff over a blunder thread he started. I even had a few games with him via clan play after the iggy list incident. almost had him a few times (I thought). His play rocketed after that.

Originally posted by Paul LeggettNo worries. I don't think I was the one that got the admins to give him the boot. It has been awhile since that incident, but with a track record like that I am sure he was attempting to do the same to others.

I beat DerJager in a tournament game a few weeks ago.

I really doubt he was banned for engine use. I've never been able to do anything similar to that against an engine. 😕

I think here we have a combination of both.
I had a few PM's from the lad. He was always OK with me.
(he's not replied to my last one yet.) 🙂
Perhaps it was for have a double account.
I know it's against TOS but I cannot see a problem with someone paying two
subs providing you don't play yourself and only use one to post with.
(It's also against medical advice, playing with yourself makes you go blind.)
Or
Here is a new angle.
His whole clan may know each other's log on password and once every three
months they rotate. A bit like Clan Musical Chairs except nobody drops out.
This may explain the good and bad games.
The DJ account was prior ro the ban being played by one of his clan's stronger players.
I bet nonoe of you thought of that. 😉

7... c4 does look weird, but I've had humans play that kind of move against me often. Don't ask me what they were thinking. Too much confidence in the queenside pawn storm, maybe. His Bd7-b5 plan, though, is something any human player would have a hard time explaining.
Originally posted by danilopFunny you should mention Chess Titans. That's what popped into my head when I saw the c4 move. I'm pretty sure that's what it played when I had a game with it using similar opening you played.

But Chess Titans would only be rated around 1400 I guess.

I just looked at that position with Houdini on my quad-core.
At a depth of 21 ply after 1 minute analysis I have the following score:
1. = (-0.02): 7...Nh5
2. = (-0.02): 7...c4
3. = (0.06): 7...Qb6
EDIT: Arghhhh! Zygalski you just got in before me.
At least I'm on it without a box. 😉
Hmmmm.....Nah!
I think you are on the wrong track blaming 7...c4 here.
It's a move. Not one I'm a 100% keen on as it takes all the tension out
of the position but it's legal.
I'm thinking the wrong strategy was castling by Black after he
blocked the centre with 7....c4 gving him no chance of hitting back in the centre
when the flank attack came.
He should have held back after 7...c5 and wait till White 0-0 then the g4
bayonet attack can go both ways. Still prefer White.
The one that has me baffled is here. Black's 11th move 11...Bb5
11...Bc6 makes more sense as it gives the f6 Knight a home on e4
and makes an attempt at blocking the c2 Bishop's diagonal.
It looks like he was expecting White to play e4 at some point and the
B5 Bishop holds the c-pawn from the d2 Knight.
He totally missed the Bxh7+ idea so you can another ? on 12...Nd7.
12...Ne8 stops the double Bishop sac but White is looking good.

Nh5 and c4 are both moves I don't think a strong human player would consider. How would you know? I hear you ask. Cause I read it somewhere. I seem to remember a game in Logical chess- Move by Move having c4 played in a very similar position. The author gave it a big thumbs down.
