Under the person is a pool of clear, clean water.

Why is there a pool of clear water?
I've heard that one too, and I have another riddle for when this one is done.

I think I know where the pool of water came from, but I'll let someone else "pull together the facts" this time.
That is correct. There is no chair in the room.

Is no one taking a crack at this because...

1. it's too easy?
2. they've heard it before?
3. all of the above?
4. none of the above?
5. not enough clues?
( 6. too many options? )

A hung guy is found in an empty room. (stop giggling! 😠 )
He either had to be standing on something before hanging himself, or he was incredibly athletic and could jump up high enough to poke his head into the noose, and then on the way down the noose would tighten around his neck and he would be hung... by the neck.

Presumably from wolfgang's clue:-
Is the man superman?

yeah

So superman is presumably allergic to the green rock he's lying on and is not just lying on it, but is strapped to it or something, and that's why he's dying.

It doesn't take much green kyptonite to make superman feel extremely weak. So if he finds himself laying on a big rock of that stuff he doesn't need to be strapped onto it... being anywhere near that rock is enough to immobilize and kill him.

Another old one:

Every morning, a person named Pat enters a skyscraper and goes to the elevator. Pat pushes one of the buttons and gets off at that floor. Then Pat walks up the stairs the rest of the way to the top.

In the afternoon, Pat takes the elevator all the way down and goes home.

If it's raining, Pat does not use the stairs.

Explain.
