I don't know about you, but most people have to sleep from time to time.

LOL! 6 hour games would be so sweet! You could make a game with these time controls and get noobs to take the game and time them out when they took a nap.

Such a silly idea... it's painful.

A 6 hrs timeout doesn't mean the game is finished in six hours, it means you have 6 hours to move after your opponent has moved. Let's say I make a move at 10 pm CEST (my local time). My opponent, who happens to be in California, moves three hours later - 4 pm for him, 1 am for me. Six hours later, he times me out while I am still asleep. Sweet.

People may live in same GMT & so on.
Y don't you let 'em decide their timeout less than twennyfour hours?

Because users would abuse this needless feature to set players up for an easy win... a lot like time control switchers do at Yahoo and Pogo.

New users takes the game not knowing what it is... makes 3 moves... and the other guy times him out in his sleep and gets free rating points.

Why don't you realize this is a bad idea? I guess it doesn't mater, because Russ has no plan to ever do a feature like this. It would just be nice if you could grasp the concept of what this site is for and realize why your idea is so bad.

Your company blocks sites for a reason, and if they find you've been playing chess here during work you will be fired. It happened to one player here at RHP that I know of, and didn't he feel stupid.

I know how guardians work and this site would remain available, taking advantage of blocked players.
