I'll take it to thirty and we will see what happens to the recommended post list over the coming months.

I have recently been checking out another forum which has awards for community participation, and I do really like that idea, so expect something on that front in the future.

How about something like a rec count per forum?

Recs are given for different things - "Site Ideas" for good ideas, "help" for answers that work, "General" for wit, "clans" for goad value etc. etc.
Instead of showing a single "rec count", show the count of recs earned in the forum in question - context is everything.

The individual scores could be kept on the profile page, maybe an overall total as well - instead of a number, maybe some icons like the move stars.

[edit: having a count per forum could introduce recs for the private fora too.]

I never liked the personal wreck count much, and I don't think that would change if it were done per forum; however, I'd really like wreck lists per forum. I follow some fora more regularly than others, and it would be nice to be able to check for interesting posts in a specific forum that I don't read regularly without having to wade through a lot of stuff from other fora that I either read anyway or that I am not interested in.

Ha ha, me too! It's amazing how excited some people get about their 30 wrecks. But I expect this will settle down rather quickly, and maybe the wrecks will even become somewhat useful again.

How about a system that allows a small group of serially addicted users to give each other points for attacking and belittling everyone outside of their little clique?

Perhaps bonus points could be awarded for driving off newcomers and paid subscribers!

Well so far, all the people who nagged about increasing the rec limit are just recommending any old rubbish. The recommend post list is starting to fill up with 'begging' posts.

This is what I was afraid of:

"Bad wolf" who wrote in the thread "30 recs" in "General":
"Can I have a rec please?"

and got 5 recs quite quickly, and rising.

Please Russ, lower the rec alottment to 10 again before the reccing systems get jammed...

I hope it's a phase that will pass. I have not used my new 'well earned' recs yet, but when I do the rec list will be a veritable store-house of fantastic posts.

Wait a bit before calling it a bust.
