@fmf saidA classic example of FMF blinkers:
It was not an insult.
If I'd asked you if your arguments in support of your belief in a creator and moral law giver were the product of autism, then that would have been an ad hominem, for sure.
But that wasn't what happened, as you well know.
If I'd suddenly abandoned our conversation and, instead, started claiming that you are very "hateful" and "bitter" and "angry" ...[text shortened]...
Then that would have been an ad hominem, without a doubt.
But that wasn't what happened either.
FMF actually insults someone by saying they ARE handicapped: not an ad hominem.
Someone asks FMF if he is handicapped by any chance: a definite ad hominem.
I rest my case.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidSeems my sarcasm in response to Dive’s sarcasm went straight over your head.
Sarcasm really does go over your head, doesn't it?
@dj2becker saidYou deflected my arguments (on page 1 of that thread) by characterizing them as "hateful" and suggested that me being "handicapped" would "explain it". That's what an ad hominem is. Questioning whether autism was the cause of your behaviour was neither an ad hominem (it was not deflecting any argument you'd made) nor was it an insult.

@dj2becker saidYou're just not very good at it.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidIn this case the one not getting it is not very good at it.
You're just not very good at it.
@dj2becker saidYou are also not very good at clever quips.
In this case then one not getting is not very good at it.
Good God man, is there anything you're good at?
@dj2becker saidOops, a slip into Romans there...
Tiger needs to stay in the shallow end of the pool until he can learn to swim.
@fmf saidYou did exactly the same thing, the only difference being you said I was handicapped and I asked you whether you were. Yet somehow mine is an ad hominem and your's isn't.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidAll part of the plan to bamboozle you. You think I'm Romans again don't you?

@dj2becker saidIt's not "somehow" that way. It's that way by definition.
Yet somehow mine is an ad hominem and your's isn't.
@dj2becker saidWhen did I stop believing that?!
