"Been there and done that" testimonials for some reason don't impress me that much.
I guess basically I trust the integrity of Christ and the New Testament over these kinds of "Been there, done that" testimonials.
Christ became in a form in which we could join our spirit to Him - "the last Adam became a life giving Spirit" (1 Cor. 15:45). Everyti s regard. How do I really know? I think I trust Christ's word over yours. Sorry.
So you say "I know ALL about it. I've been there and I am now out".
I don't think I'll follow you in this regard. How do I really know? I think I trust Christ's word over yours. Sorry.
That wasn't my point. I've been around enough xians to know that they absolutely refuse to accept that a believer could ever abandon their faith. Not interested in arguing it with you.
I'm telling you in no uncertain terms that your whining is obnoxious. You have come here under false pretenses. Ostensibly you want to discuss or debate, but it is apparent that all you really want to do is prostelytize. Go back and pray some more. I don't think Jesus likes being represented by liars and fakes. If you are a True Christian (and I too have my doubts about you), you'll brush the dust off your feet and leave.
John Lennon lives! If you just believe that he is alive and speak out to him, he will answer you! We have more evidence that John Lennon lived than Jesus. Even great secular historians cannot deny that Lennon really lived and inspired people. He's real. Just open your heart to him, and he will speak to you.

I completely blacked out as to who Jesus was. I couldn't even remember. I dove into Rosicrucianism and into Zen Buddhism. Eventually by God's mercy the darkness was not able to extinguish the light completely and I repented and came back to the God Whom I had totally forgotten about.
Even in the New Testament you have the example of Peter abandoning his faith in the very beginning of his being a disciple. That is why you have two instances of his being called to discipleship.
Backslidding or even abandoning the faith in God is not a subject unrecorded in the Bible.
As for whinning. Hey, that's interesting. You sounded like one whinning to me!
This is the Internet. You don't have to sit locked in your pew. You can heckle, debate, argue, try turn the conversation to a whole different direction. Sure I want to tell about the good things of God's Son Christ.
And I always wanted to be around Christians who helped my faith rather than hurt my faith. So I'm not looking for fakes and liars. I am looking for believers who will encourage my faith.

In other words, drop the pretense of searching for truth and go with the philosophy that promises the biggest bag of goodies.
Of course those goodies also include the crucifying of my lust, my sin, and my love for wickedness and vanity. Those goodies include my co-death with Christ and rising to new life in Christ.
The "goodies" of God also inludes the cross to terminate the fallen nature.
You're here because you want goodies too. You don't come to this web address because you want to lose your enjoyment but to have some. Am I right?

But I think when he did have the ear of the world he also found that he had little to really say to the world.
I mean what is "I am the Eggman. Koo Koo Ka Jub?" What is "I am the Walrus?"
I admire Lennon's success as a performer and song writer but I think he himself sensed his own eventual superficiality.
Teleron,
I don't think Jesus likes being represented by liars and fakes. If you are a True Christian (and I too have my doubts about you), you'll brush the dust off your feet and leave.
It is good of you who have decided that you don't have it to be a disciple of Jesus, to be concerned with how He would want to be represented.
But even in John chapter 8 He stayed with an argumentative crowd and continued to talk to them. I appreciate you advice to go back and pray. You pray for us too?
Some of the scribes Jesus said would not enter into the kingdom themselves. But worse then that they would not allow others to enter either. If you don't want to go in why do you come to forbid me to invite people in?
You can't oppose Christ on one hand and then turn around and pretend to be concerned how He's being represented on the other. Are you hot or cold? Do you want to be lukewarm?
Did you sit down and count the cost and decide that it was not worth it?
I believe that whether we are weak or strong we should stay with the Lord. I hope I would never in sadness turn and walk away. That is a mistake to leave Him like the rich young man who turned sadly away. With God all things are possible.
And as I said before, I do not look for hypocrits. I look for Christians who will help my faith. Why should I surround myself with those who will make me feel that I am on the wrong track?
Do you spend as much time looking for mature disciples as you do noticiing ones whom you can condemn? Works for me.

Also you should get that amnetia checked out. You sound very very confused. John Lennon can cure you of that you know. You just have to believe that he has already cured you.

Just pointing out the hypocrisy, bud.
Growth and maturity accompany the natural birth. Growth and maturity also should accompany the spiritual birth of regeneration.
I too am hyporitical some times. And then the Devil accuses my conscience that I have no right to be a Christian. Thankfully, if we confess our sins He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
By deeper confession and deeper growth the process of transformation brings us more and more out of religious hypocrisy.

Can you submit a few examples of people who were tortured to death singing praises to John Lennon?
And can you also tell me how come I find many books opposing Jesus in a critical way but not too many arguing against John Lennon?
Just curious why Lennon seems to not envoke in people the same kind of strong reaction one way or another.

All I've wanted is serious discussion of the matter but you apparently do not. John Lennon loves you. Just believe he is alive and he will talk to you. Why do you refuse to speak to him? Is it really so hard to believe some one has risen from the grave? I mean you already think at least one other person has done it in the past.

Yes, John Lennon and you are cool dudes. If that is all you require, more cool dudes, there are plenty of cool dudes on the TV and in Marvel Comics for you.
John Lennon doesn't ask you to die for him.
Then again John Lennon didn't say that he was "the resurrection and the life."
Here again the message of Jesus has been tested to the extreme. The testing through adverse situations, even to the point of very unpleasant things including death, has gone to prove the power of His words.
I don't think that Christ would ask us to be tempted beyond what we are able. The truth of the matter is that some Christians had the grace and longsuffering to be this kind of witness to the power of Christ's words. They were a testimony that within them there was an unshakable support.
Could you please tell us what this means:
"I am the Eggman. I am the Walrus. Koo Koo Ka Jub"
What important message did this "cool dude" have for the world in this words, which you want to place on the same level as the New Testament?
