Buy you refuse to say what you mean by 'self interest' or 'self gain'. I have failed to come up with a meaning that does not match what I said above, and you have refused to give one. So no, it is not 'obvious' that that isn't what you are saying.

Why are you refusing to articulate your argument?

I am not trolling. I have readily answered any questions you have asked and provided examples that counter your claims.
You on the other hand are dodging once again by accusing me of trolling.

Cambridge Dictionary definition of altruism: (which I rather like)

'Willingness to do things that bring advantages to others, even if it results in disadvantage for yourself.'

In this definition, a by product of self gratification or self interest doesn't negate an act as being altruistic. The key feature is doing something for the advantage of others.

Edit - And it is this 'altruism' that is intrinsic to the bible.

I hope you are referring to the New Testament. There is precious little altruism in the Old Testament.

'The Old Testament Hebrews pioneered legal altruism. One of Moses' laws enforced by the Judean and Israeli states guaranteed that the poor and widows have a right to glean grain in the fields of the rich.' James Hall.

“If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not be like a moneylender; charge him no interest.” Exodus 22:25

“At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts.” Deuteronomy 15:1

And my personal favourite:

'“If you enter your neighbor’s vineyard, you may eat all the grapes you want, but do not put any in your basket.” Deuteronomy 23:24-25

What have I dodged? I have answered every question you have asked and more. You on the other hand cannot say the same.
Further, I did not accuse you of trolling.

Pioneered? Evidence for that?

So when you said I am dodging, you were referring to page 8?
I may not be 'better than this', but I am clearly better than what you are being.

I am fine with the dictionary definition. Lets use Wikipedia:

Altruism or selflessness is the principle or practice of concern for the welfare of others.
...
Altruism or selflessness is the opposite of selfishness.

I disagree with Wikipedia that reproduction is an example of selfishness. I am not my genes.

I think this is at least the third time I've asked you?
And did I not answer the other three times? Or did you not read the answer?
