This is the best comeback to an Atheist that I have seen in decades.

When an atheist called him a "moron" for believing
in God, Dr. Ben Carson responded with one brilliant line that
put the atheist in his place.

"I believe I came from God, and you believe you came from a
monkey," he told the individual, "and you've convinced me
    you're right."

    Not original and wholly wrong.

Atheists tend to be better educated than to think they "came from a monkey".

Actually if you use a phylogenetic definition of monkey, we ARE monkeys, just like we are apes,
and are great apes. [as well as placental mammals, etc etc]

The only way out of that is to say that 'monkey' isn't a scientifically valid term which may be a
reasonable position. However if you allow 'monkey' as a valid classification, then the common
ancestor of all today's monkeys and the great apes would by any valid definition also be a monkey.
And as such, we must also still be monkeys.

What the creationists consistently get wrong is not thinking we come from monkeys, it's in picturing
something like a monkey suddenly giving birth to something like a human.

That's the image that this idiot Ben Carson was evoking... Not "your long long long distant ancestors
~20 million years ago were monkeys" but instead "your parents [close ancestors] were monkeys".

That's the creationist lie that he was relying on for his joke, because that idea is absurd.

And of course has no relationship with reality.

As a surgeon, Carson was well-grounded in reality and used tissue from aborted babes to conduct innovative research. As a politician, he's a fool.

The intelligent ones don't believe it, but they like to try to convince others that it is the truth.

Either you don't get out much, or theists are desperately short of comebacks.

The Muslim being questioned tried to deflect the question but the clip is only 10 seconds long so it seems all we got to see was the question itself, about apostasy. Scientology deals with apostasy pretty much the same way, except not actually killing the person leaving the faith.

I've seen the entire debate, and can post the link if you'd like. What happens is that the moderator stops Dawkins from pursuing and answer from the Muslim, while the Muslim dodges or ignores the question, despite Dawkins repeating it several times. The Muslim finally answers LONG after the power of the question has faded, and tries to brush it off by saying "it's death, but so what?" That's a paraphrase.

The reason this clip is only 10 seconds, is because this was a critical moment where the Muslim was only saved by the moderator stopping Dawkins. It was like the ref calling time out right before a knockout blow was landed.

It is well known the Muslim position on apostasy. Maybe they try to cover it up to the newly converted. No truth in advertising, 'Yes, convert to Islam, when you die you get 73 virgins', but if you leave us, we kill you. In very small print.

Personally I think the 'atheists can't say "Oh, God!" during sex' joke is funnier.
