You learn to deal with them a bit better as you get older. Knowing that good bits will likely as not be foloowed by bad bits you try to milk the good for as much as you can and take the bad on the chin and keep moving on.
The way I look at it, when bad stuff happens it means that things are probably going to get good again shortly.

That's the negative in you taking over.
You want to focus on the good stuff and forget what might or might not happen later. There's nothing you can do about the future whether it's good or bad - so enjoy what's happening to you now and deal with tomorrow when it comes.
