I'm not sure that statement is totally correct. I agree that most people survive without the Bible. I would argue that it is a meaningless life without it, but that is only my opinion, not the topic here.

Technology could have never always been a 'was' as you state. Like you said we used to get eaten by bigger species. If technology always 'was' then according to your logic we would have never been in that position. There had to be a specific start to 'technology' just as there had to be a specific start to all things.

We hid in trees and ran away. Enough of our ancestors survived to continue our line along with other prey species. In fact the study of genealogy showed that on a number of occasions our line nearly became extinct. The use of tools confers a survival advantage on the user and is certainly not exclusive to man,chimpanzees regularly use rocks ,twigs and branches as tools.We were lucky.
