Deuteronomy 14:21
Should you cook an old goat in its mother's milk?
Can you cook a young goat in cow's milk?

Any more culinary advice from the bible?

I spent a small amount of time in Israel; they don't mix dairy and meat so no
cheese burgers or cheese on pizza, the word Kosher has a very strong meaning
to those that live there. Even the fast food places don't advertise cheeseburgers,
but many of them will serve them to you if you ask.

No cheese on pizza?

They have totally separate kitchens for dairy and meat. Never both at the same meal.

Why does god beat about the bush?
DONT MIX MEAT AND DAIRY is a clearer command!

btw1: Can Orthodox Jews eat meat pies? (ie pastry made with butter)

btw2: Would any Christian refuse a dish of boiled kid in milk?

Where I was at served Breakfast, they removed cheese when the meat was
brought out. They don't mix them willingly. I have a picture of a hotel that had
a Chinese restaurant in it that advertised that it was a Chinese Kosher restaurant
in Haifa Israel we ate there just to see, we only did that once. I don’t want to
sound like I’m knocking the food there, it was GREAT, the humus there was better
than any I have ever had in the states…but I did eat a double bacon cheese
burger on my way home from the airport when I got back. 🙂

So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

(Colossians 2:16-17 NKJV)

For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables. Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him.

(Romans 14:2-3 NKJV)

Where did you stay in Israel? I know of a great little cafe near Ben Yahuda square in Jerusalem that makes GREAT steaks smothered in a creamy sauce to die for. They also have live music.

I and my family lived in Jerusalem for 4 years so I know a bit about the place and although the kosher thing is practiced religiously by a lot of Jews, there are also a lot of Jews who poo poo the whole thing.

In fact up north near the Kinneret there is a kibbutz devoted to raising pigs and selling bacon and such.

The only thing they have to do to satisfy Israeli laws about raising pigs is to have them elevated above ground so the hooves don't touch dirt. They are raised on basically a chicken wire fence held up about one foot above ground.

I worked at the Intel plant in Jerusalem and they did make a big deal out of having kosher utensils, the kosher ones had a small hole in them near the end of the handle and kosher plates and utensils had to be washed in a kosher part of the kitchen.

One time a Palestinian worker pulled a mischievous joke that almost caused a riot.
He took non-kosher utensils and punched holes in them and mixed them with regular kosher ones and somehow the staff found out and there was a near riot over the result.

Who in their right mind would eat meat cooked in milk anyway?

A more appropriate Biblical command would have been: "Don't go doing anything stupid."
