The truth of Christianity seems to offend a lot of people. If they did not want to hear his Christian views they should not have asked him about what he thought was sin.
Another question I have is this.... If this gentleman had spoken his thoughts let's say 50 years ago as he did here about his own opinion on this subject and was on a TV show than as he is with A&E now, would this have happend then?

Probably not.
But 50 years ago the Civil Rights Act had not been enacted.

This country is supposed to be one that anyone can practise this "freedom of speach" with their own views of life but when they do it, they are penalized.

I agree but a person has no right to express his opinion without repercussions in just everyday life such as with a religious view in mind especially when he was asked for it?
