I disagree with galveston75's and your negative version of the state of the world and the human condition. It has been discussed many a time in detail. You seem to want to dismiss my disagreement as some kind of "attacking his personality" thing. Others might interpret this as you trying to play me rather than play the ball in this discussion.
youve got their slightly past it over weight striker emile 'glaveston' hesky in your back pocket. he hasnt had a touch of the ball all game. billy 'robbie' bremner the angry little scotsman is trying to break your legs while equally chasing the ref around the pitch waving imaginary yellow cards at him every time you win the ball.

meanwhile emile 'galveston' hesky has mistaken your bobby moore style tight man marking as some sort of homosexual advance and has sat down on the halfway line to write you a stern letter detailing that the contents of his of 1970's tight white shorts are not for you and could you please go and mark somebody else.

meanwhile robbie once again has dribbled the ball into a corner and cant get out.

the atheists win 10-0 nil again, robbie (still stuck in the corner) denies the win, denies that he's in the corner or that the game ever happend, although he will still claims the three points and try keep the match ball (which he denies was used in the match, or that its even a ball or round).

There has been advancement and progress. There are still problems. This is exactly my view too. Why is mine "not balanced" and yours "more balanced"?
we are dealing with perspectives and it appears to me that ultimately time will tell. I suspect that if you had made reference to some of these problems then your position would have seemed more balanced. Anyway, what a civil discussion, forgive me if I appear paranoid , but i am waiting for it to go pear shaped at any moment.

Yes because you did, Galvestons. If i have misunderstood your position and that you were in fact making reference to his position rather than him personally then I apologise.

But, robbie, I have made reference to the "problems". I always do.

I am, after all, interested in the actual living and breathing realities of the world rather than trying to argue that predictions based on religionist literature are soon to come true.

In what post do you claim I was "attacking his personality"? Please just quote it and have done. You've been brandishing this ad hominem for several pages.

oh great and illustrious bearded one, by the beard of the prophet, were these not your words,

You must have misunderstood my question. Either that or you sidestepped it on purpose. I am not asking you about your personal pessimistic end-is-nigh perspective on the world. I am asking about those who, unlike you, think that there is plenty of evidence that the human condition is improving and that the world is a better place - when all is weighed up - than it was in the past. Do you urge such optimistic and positive people to thank Jehovah for the progress that has been made?

you seem to me to make no reference to any problems and only did so once prompted by my timely intervention.

ok, here are your words again,

galveston75 is one of the most pessimistic and negative posters I have encountered on RHP. He has expressed the WISH that Jesus come down and wipe everybody and everything away. When I have presented evidence of human progress to him in the past he has very often started deflecting and dodging or telling me to look at a YouTube video. etc.

this does nothing to address that actual matter at hand FMF and is simply an attack on his personality.

You claimed that the world was going to go "pear shaped". He has asked you "pear shaped in what way?" How can that be said to be "completely ignoring the actual discussion at hand?"
