Happy or truth

Truth, because that is consistent and real, while happiness is fleeting.
Happiness can also be more or less ever-present and the bedrock of a thoughtful life well lived.

Truth, because that is consistent and real, while happiness is fleeting and can be based upon lies just as easily as truth.
A lot of things that people hold to be "truths" can just as easily be lies.

And if it isn't based on truth, what is that mean? If happiness alone is the goal at the expense of truth, we choose to make ourselves happy over truth, and if our "thoughtful life" is based upon something untrue, does that mean we prefer a lie? If we bend the truth to suit us, so we are happy with it, isn't that doing the exact something?

"Truth" according to whom?

Who is claiming happiness is at the expense of the truth? Who are you talking about? What "truth" are you referring to?

Expand upon what you are getting at. Give an example, in the context of what I said, of "something untrue" and something that is "a lie".

What I WAS getting at was nothing but asking the questions I asked. If you want to turn this into another discussion start your own OP.

If you don't want a discussion, why did you start a thread on a discussion and debate forum?

Yes. Of course.

Who is claiming happiness is at the expense of the truth?

You?

Do you attempt to make make every OP you enter to be about what you think they should be?

I just try to address the OP as it is presented. Judging by all your dancing around, you have some regrets about your clumsy OP. I think the "truths" that you are gagging to talk about are religious/spiritual ones. But you ruled that out early on.

If it is truth according to anyone you are talking about opinions not truth.

Yea between the two of us only one of us knows why the OP was written the other is inserting their non-offensive opinion.
