The fact that some women are free from active suppression now does not give religion a bye for thousands of years of suppression. Your own god condoned the owning of women and slavery.
The rational was 'it's in the bible', god ordained it such. Besides, Eve was the original sinner so she deserves punishment.
That alone screams man made. No god would c ...[text shortened]... of women is clear evidence for the man made nature of your religion and Islam in the bargain.

So in other words, the fact that some women are now priests totally negates all the centuries of suppression? A woman is a priest at the methodist church we used to go to but I ask you this: How many men are in charge of your church's money? How many women get to pick and choose where that money is spent?
What percentage of women are there in your churc ...[text shortened]... then.
Till then, humans telling me how to conduct my spirituality is not going to happen.
You can have your opinion, God Himself gave us all Free Will. I'm certainly not about to "tell you how to conduct your spirituality".
In the Bible, "o ye of little faith" was considered an insult. I'll only go so far as to call it unfortunate, in your case.
So you want God to show Himself to you. Well, you're the one always claiming that to say God cares about us humans at all is the height of arrogance. How much more arrogant is it to demand that God show Himself to you? My only question to you would be: Would you prefer a "George Burns" type God, or a "Morgan Freeman" type God?
Originally posted by SuzianneI would prefer to be left alone by gods just like they are now, assuming there are gods or a God. I keep saying no god would set up religions that are diametrically opposed to one another and the inherent gender bias against women would have been dealt with by your god. The fact it hasn't says to me, no god or hands off god.

In either case it is up to us to save the planet, no god is going come down and fix all the boo boo's or magically make women equal to men. It is your fight as women that brought about your near equality in the last 100 years but women are still considered property in the Islam world. I guess you would write that off to evil societies or some such but I see it as either no god involved or a no involved god.

Or do you perhaps cleverly define 'evil' as being perpetrated solely by humans and put all those horrible things done by God and his angels and disease and natural disasters etc in some other category?

The atheists are choosing when they want to believe in God, so that they can blame Him for things like disease and natural disasters? Not to mention the new tack of "all those horrible things done by God and his angels". WHAT horrible things could you possibly be attributing to God, Mr. Atheist? Hmmmm?
Interesting. These have nothing at all to do with Science?
I think in the last 300 years, they've pretty much figured out what causes disease. And insurance companies aside, I thought you guys were quite loathe to blame things like the recent drought in the midsection of America as being "God showing His displeasure with us". Come on, as you guys like to say, is this the 21st Century or not?
Picking and choosing, eh? Oh, I suppose it's okay to not believe in God, unless of course you want to blame EVERYTHING on God, in which case, it's obviously okay to believe in Him long enough to place blame? Riiiiight. And you expect us to believe you when you say you do not believe in fairy tales.
Originally posted by RJHindsit's irrelevant how many people agree with you.
The writings of all the New Testatment writers are about Christ, therefore, it is more accurate and inclusive to call it Christianity, rather than just Paulism. Apparently, there are more people who agree with me than with you, because it is called Christianity.
Originally posted by SuzianneWhat are you on about? You know perfectly well that I do not believe in god. You know perfectly well that I do not blame God for anything. However, the Bible lists many horrendous acts committed by God and by angels and I believe even has a verse stating that evil comes from God.

I do not blame God for natural disasters nor disease but I do consider them evil. Do you not?

What an odd question. Are you blaming science for natural disasters?

When did I say any such thing? Maybe my sentence wasn't clear. I was listing non-man made evils:
1. Horrendous acts committed by God.
2. Horrendous acts committed by 'angels' or other supernatural entities (Satan, demons etc).
3. Disease.
4. Natural disasters.
I did not say God caused 3. and 4. but I do say they are evil and I do say they are not man made.
Originally posted by twhiteheadI think it is the atheist evolutionists that are the cause of all these evil things.
