It means I believe that God exists. Sorry I wasn't clearer the first time. 🙂

What about my second question?

I have no way of knowing what is "more likely than not". I simply believe there is a God.

But why?

What is your primary reason for believing?

I don't have a "reason" for it, per se. I simply believe that a God was responsible for the existence of this environment and the life within it. Beyond that, there is no significance or impact on me as a result of my belief, and my belief doesn't have any real significance or impact on anything or on anyone.

Except maybe an interest in posting in this forum to the contrary?

Since you believe there is a creator, why do you think there is nothing more to know other than that?

Do you completely reject the possibility that this God has revealed Himself to man in more tangible ways?

Why?

Yes. I have looked into it. And while I do believe in God, I don't believe God has revealed Himself to man in more tangible ways. I refer you to my red pantaloons analogy.

You think there's something wrong with someone with my belief posting on a message board?

Ok. I'll take a closer look at it and get back to you.

I have to go now, so it may be a few days even.

If I don't think you caught my reply I'll send you a PM and let you know.

It could be a week.

If there is a God and he does not interact with mankind on any meaningful way nor care about them, he might as well be dead to them.

I don't believe in any gods and so dont espouse John W Booths beliefs, but I say when one has honestly come up with an exhaustive list off all the things a non-supernatural person can know about supernatural things, then that list is empty. To this end I have slightly more respect for the blind belief in something completely undefined (and vacuous) than blind belief in something for which the definitions attached to such are unjustified. (Though the magnitude of "slightly" here is still neglible).

On a philosophical level, why is an inactive god a problem? Must some god that exists necessarily interact with humans???

Such a god would be incoherent to those who worship the God of Gimme which includes the vast majority of Christians from what I can tell.

It is logical to assume that God actually cares about his creation.

Why? Just look at what you have created in your lifetime. Things that you create are a reflection of who and what you are. Likewise, Biblically we are said to be created in the image of God. What you create speaks volumes as to who and what you are. It indicates your intelligence level, it indicates what is important to you etc, etc. As human beings, relationships are what makes the world go round. So if that is not what makes God tick, then he has effectively created something that is completely foriegn to him and in which he has no interest. Why would he waste his time?

Sorry, I just don't buy it.
