If it's really God, and he wants someone dead, he can do it. Problem solved.
Yep.

Probably .. but sometimes he tests people.
I guess people do it too.
He tests people all the time

Also his "appearing" may not be the way you imagine .

What if the person God told you to kill was yourself?
Suicide is an unworkable equation, even for God

People like Charles Manson test others in this way...

God would probably get impatient with all the questions I asked and zap me dead on the spot.

I find many statements of that duty, but I know better than to expect consensus from Christians.

I said why.
Duty.
You don't accept that as Biblical .
Now what?

What if God asks you to sacrifice yourself to atone for the sins of humanity?

Such as setting up a situation in which you know you will be killed.

Thats not suicide. Thats like freeing your soul.

Deep down we all know the truth

And don't even get me started on Samson.

You are stretching the premises of the OP beyond recognition. Why are you doing that? Is it because if you stick to the OP premises, my behavior is understandable?

Compare your version to: “...you are convinced that He is who He says He is” and it may be more understandable. Otherwise you are asking me to defend a straw man.

Edit: simply put, my understanding of the concept of God holds that if I were convinced that God has made his existence known to me, I would recognize it to be my duty to worship and obey him. If he issued a command that caused me to stop being convinced that he was who he said he was, the OP premise stated above would not be satisfied and I would not consider myself to have said duty.
