How accurate was the series' depiction of the plague of the horse-sized locusts that eat human flesh?

That must have been in the second half of the series... or I've forgotten.

Have any of you seen the live-action film adaptation of the series starring former-teen-heart-throb-turned-Christian-doorknob Kirk Cameron?

How accurate was his portrayal of someone *Gasp* Left Behind?

Here's the best story of evangelical lunacy to come from South Africa in the last few years (you'll have to skip the Afrikaans parts but you'll get the gist):

I understand that part is mentioned in Revelation somewhere, so as such no, but there was a lot of er.. uhm... poetic license used in the books.

If you want to hear about 'real' revival, I suggest you read "Revival among the Zulus" by Erlo Stegen.

I never saw it, but the review that I got from my friends who saw it, was that as most Christian films go, the element of cheezyness was never far away...

Agreed. By at least the author does bring across some truths.

Pray tell, what "truths" does the author bring across?

There's a whole new shelf in my local video store featuring films set in biblical times. Even the fonts on the boxes have extra cheese.

Depends what you mean by TRUTHS. An author's interpretation of scripture wouldn't necessarily qualify...
