fine, it may or may not be harmful, i cannot say until the values that it portrays are clearly expressed. You will now comment on the values that the vast majority of pornography expresses as is intimated in the quotation that i cited and tell us why its not harmful. If you please.
Where exactly did I claim it was not harmful?

I thinks pornography exists on a spectrum, both in terms of content and usage. Some is harmful, some is not.

I have not said that you said it was not harmful, I was merely trying to get you to make a comment on the values that pornography espouses and why these may or may not be harmful. Yes clearly pornography exists on a spectrum and although I assuming much here, you are intimating that depending upon where it lies on that spectrum depends upon how harmful it may be. I can dig that. What do you consider are the parameters of this spectrum?

From not harmful at all at one end to harmful at the other.

2 Corinthians 6:17 says, "Quit touching the unclean thing." That has many beneficial applications.

I'd say "If the thing is unclean then clean the thing"
which has many beneficial applications.

Yes but the problem for those persons who have stated that pornography is not harmful is that they cannot explain or refuse to explain the message that it portrays because to do so is self incriminating. Oh well.

The values expressed in pornography clash so obviously with the family concept, and they potentially undermine the traditional values that favor marriage, family, and children ... Pornographic scripts dwell on sexual engagements of parties who have just met, who are in no way attached or committed to each other, and who will part shortly, never to meet again ... Sexual gratification in pornography is not a function of emotional attachment, of kindness, of caring, and especially not of continuance of the relationship, as such continuance would translate into responsibilities, curtailments, and costs ...[18]

Who has stated that pornography is "not harmful"? My impression on this thread is that all the contributors have stated that pornography can be harmful, or words to that effect. If you see yourself in disagreement with "those persons who have stated that pornography is not harmful", who exactly is it you think has taken this stance? Can you name them?

Ahem! I think you said so yourself - remember about the spectrum from "not harmful at all" to evry harmful?

And I agree with you!

My wife and I have had some useful aid at times when our joint libido was low. No harm at all, in fact very helpful.

There is a new category for you, porn-again Christians!

The Porn Myth

In the end, porn doesn't whet men's appetites—it turns them off the real thing

For most of human history, erotic images have been reflections of, or celebrations of, or substitutes for, real naked women. For the first time in human history, the images’ power and allure have supplanted that of real naked women. Today, real naked women are just bad porn.

Do you believe that all pornography is always harmful for all people?

Fair enough. But I am not stating that "pornography is not harmful" across the board. I don't think anyone on this thread is.

For the record, I will not rspond to any posts of RC.

He is not only an idiot, but an arrogant idiot who is not in command of the English language, but turns to abuse at every opportunity.

I refuse to engage an unarmed man.

He's just trying too hard to be funny but cannot differentiate between being artlessly daft and being artlessly unpleasant. It seems quite clear he was trying to distract people from the 'JWs and human sacrifice' thread which was not going well at all.
