Like the Dutch, they are becoming less and less religious every year yet their society is not saddled with religious strictures about morality, they can figure out for themselves what is right and what is wrong.

In the US, however, we are bogged down in this morass of religion, it is holding back our development as a country, in a place where almost 50% think the Earth 6000 years old and then perverting the education system to force that crap on the young, put down evolution, forget about teaching global warming. It's no wonder our government is shut down as we speak. The entire frigging COUNTRY is dysfunctional and will remain so till we shuck the sham of religious dogma.

they can figure out for themselves what is right and what is wrong

How exactly does that work? Who decides right from wrong? Where does the sense of right and wrong come from?

I hate to break it to you but PEOPLE are quite capable of figuring out what is right and what is wrong, they don't need man made fairy tales that reference gods all the time as if the god is the ultimate arbitrator. The ultimate arbitrators are people. As it turns out, unknown to theists around the world, people have actual intelligence! I know that comes as a shock to theists but it is true and the worse part is, they can figure stuff out ALL BY THEMSELVES. Isn't that amazing? We can come up with moral rules even if there were no bibles, Qurans or vedas which were written to the last letter by humans and no help was needed for a god. It's just that people think if you couch a pithy saying as if it came from a god, it would have more street cred than if it had come from a dude on a soapbox in Hyde park.

That may have actually been true in the past but some countries have begun to grow up and out of the need for the constant god reference and just do morality based on human condition.

It goes like this.

We realize that when people do certain things to us that it hurts us and we don't like to be hurt, we make laws to prevent this pain.

We find how much we like living in this system where people don't hurt others and we realize that it is better than everybody constantly tearing everybody down.

Then, individuals realize they are doing it now because they like it not because of the law, this is called morality. Look it up in the dictionary, kid.

The Government is partially shut down because the Deocratic Party and the President refuse to negotiate with the Republican Party. The Democrates like Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and President Obama are acting like spoiled children that must have their way. These, so called leaders, went home for the weekend and just wait for the government shutdown so that they could blame it all on the Republicans and have there left-wing news media repeat the charge in hopes of gaining political points for the upcoming election.

Obama does not cares about the government shutdown and wishes to make everything as inconvenient for as many of the average people as possible. It is obvious to me that he does not care about funding any part of the government but his Obamacare, because he has threatened to veto any funding of all of government that does not include Obamacare. The Democratic Party leaders apparently believe this is a good strategy, since they have the mainstream news organizations on their side to try to deceive the American Public.

Of course the treasonous republicans are NEVER to blame, ONLY democrats. You flipping hypocrite.

The truth of the matter: Republicans in congress are white, rich and racist. Underneath their facade is a deep hatred that we have a black president.

People notice that kind of thing, they can see hypocrisy a mile away and the republican party is going to be in for a rude awakening come next election cycle.

You Democrats throw out the race card as if it trumps all reason and logic.

I don't hear you deny it, just deflect it. OF COURSE republicans hate the idea of a black president. Fortunately the real people of the country thought otherwise. Republicans=old, white, rich, racist. bought.

America's problem is not it's belief in god, it is it's belief that it has the right to interfere in the beliefs and lives of every other nation on earth. A bit like you.

let's get honest here, the sky isn't falling.

those that don't believe in evolution aren't capable of doing much thinking in the first place.
it doesn't matter much if the stupid and ignorant believe in noah's flood or are watching snooki and the rest of jersey shore. they (and others) are all means of controlling the stupid by giving them an ocupation.

The sky IS falling. Just like the American educational system, and partly because evolution is watered down, creationism trying to be taught like it was some kind of science on a par with evolution.

Climate change being played down, totally confusing kids who get taught a lot of bullcrap about climate change, also watered down. A lot of this is the direct result of intervention in the education process by creationists.

It DOES matter if people shove those Noah stories down the throats of the gullible kids in school who should be being taught how to think critically but NO, they get this bunch of pablum story BS about how evolution sucks and only creationism should be taught in school.

I HATE how the US educational system is so far down the world list, I think we are somewhere around Ghana.

But it just goes along with what I have been saying all along: The US is going downhill in the world scene just like all the other empires, the Dutch had their day, the British, the Portuguese, the French, the Germans, and most recently, the Soviet Union, all wistfully wishing their day of empire would come back.

The US is on its way out as we speak and a large part of it is this sick obsession with christianity, literal bible worshipers, the world is 6000 years old and that's that. Goddidit.

Turn in your Cerebrum, you don't need it where you are going.

So I guess I should just go along with the flow and move to Brazil or Vancouver Island and watch the further deterioration of the US from afar.

Anyone who doubts the US is visibly deteriorating, just look at our present government shutdown.

And of course Congress is still collecting THEIR paychecks while a million workers are getting shafted.
