I have to agree w the OP here, that the SF has become stultified. I recall a time when much more varied and productive discussions took place here. Googlefudge, TWhitehead, and others contributed genuinely well-thought-out arguments on a broad range of theological issues. Now, however, threads all seem to drift back to two themes, no matter how they start: the usual suspects demand that literalists justify their eternal torture bustard god image, and the Evangelicals remind everyone that everyone is a damned sinner. Pretty tedious stuff, really. One of the reasons I don’t contribute much any more.
oh, and the name calling and impoliteness. That’s another reason.
