    for all of you believers

the age of the universe is only if the big bang happened and everything started from scratch? - BUT if god made everything it's a different story! there could be no telling of the age ? except in the holy bible

The "Big Bang" did not happen. That is just a stupid theory and you have to be a real moron to believe that one. Even Dasa knows better.

The big bang is not a slam dunk, there are certain things that seem to have happened, a certain flatness to the universe and such but there are alternate theories too.
The BB just fits most of the data we see so it is the leading theory. Alternate theories have a ways to go before they answer as many questions as the BB does so if you want to believe god did it, nobody can dispute it fully yet. Give us time, maybe in a hundred years we might have a better answer and can tick off even more Paulists than with just evolution....

The one thing we CAN say with scientific certainty is the Earth and the solar system is billions of years old and the universe at large more like 14 billion years old, using basic science proven over the last 200 years.

Of course that is one of our big disagreements but as time goes on, there will be less and less of you backwards individuals blinded by your faith, unable to wake up and smell the coffee.

All the calculation methods have to ASSUME at least one thing. There are also calculation methods that limit the age of Earth and the universe to a few thousand years.

In the last 2000 years it was all ANYONE was allowed to know till the church started losing political power and could no longer justify burning heretics who dared to use reason to show something different. So it is only in the last couple three hundred years you didn't get burned for daring to say the Earth was not the center of the universe. They were quite clear on that.

The Christian Church has been a great promoter (sometimes the only promoter) of education and science as long as it was not heretical education.
