The Council of Nicea

The Council of Nicea

Spirituality

This council determined what would be considered a Bible.

But..... this council also determined that Jesus would be more than the Son of God, which is how Jesus presented Himself.

For some reason, this council decided that Jesus would be equivalent to God, in some way, either by Trinity or Godhead.

Yet, Jesus never made this claim Himself.

You might want to reconsider that one...

"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can snatch them out of my hand. My father, who has given them to me is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my father's hand. I and the father are one" John 10: 27-30 NIV

Jesus never claimed to be God.
The Council did.

If you study the words of Jesus, He clearly states that God is His father, and submits to Him.

The prayer by Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemane is proof. Jesus cannot be praying to Himself.

In Matthew 16, Jesus asked Peter "who do you say I am"?
Peter answered "son of God".

Peter didn't say "God"
And Jesus doesn't correct him.

The Council made Jesus to be God, not Jesus.

The Council of Nicea decided to make Jesus to be God. 300 years after His death.
They had their motives.

Seems like this started to happen before the Council. The Gospel of John, which was the last of the 4, pushes pretty hard for deification of Jesus.

But why?
Jesus never made the claim Himself.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit three persons One God.

That's not what was perceived before the Council.

Jesus said before Abraham, “I Am” they wanted to kill Him for that because that was what God called Himself while talking to Moses from the bush. Jesus said He was the Lord of the Sabbath which was given by God in the 10 Commandments, Jesus forgave sins and on and on.

This is NOT in the Bible.

Are you willing to bet your eternity on it?

Jesus referred to God many times, as a different person.

Again, Peter called Jesus the son of God, and was not corrected.
