The depravity of man

“The depravity of man is at once the most empirically verifiable reality but at the same time the most intellectually resisted fact.” - Malcolm Muggeridge

This quote came to mind as I was contemplating the latest mass shooting in the US.

It is indeed a fact that some people are depraved.

It is not a fact that all of mankind are born in to depravity as a result of the sin of a man (who only existed metaphorically).

How do you account for the depravity of some people?

Defects in their socialisation process. Bad genetics. Who knows?

Look at it this way. Do you think every person alive is capable or minded to commit such atrocities?

The world is full of good decent loving people. They are just not that common in the Christian community, mostly because they are told that doing good works and living righteously is contrary to the Christian faith as it is trying to earn ones salvation and it is an insult to Christ.

Christians are also told that nobody is righteous or cannot be righteous unless they profess their faith hence their constant negative impression of people in general

And yet most christians are good people. They are in fact just people. 99.9% of christians do not give a fark about what you just said.

According to your standards maybe so. But the Bible seems to indicate that God's standards are not ours. Would you for example equate 'looking with lust' to adultery? If the Bible is true we are all adulterers. Would you classify adulterers as good people?

Here it comes again. Time to bash Christians.

It begins with an outright lie.

".., mostly because they are told that doing good works and living righteously is contrary to the Christian faith..."

Then twisting and misrepresenting the truth of God's Word.

"Christians are also told that nobody is righteous or cannot be righteous unless they profess their faith hence their constant negative impression of people in general"

Time again for rajk to crawl out of his hole of darkness and attack the church of Jesus Christ.

I would have to know their motives before I could decide. What do you think?
