@chaney3 saidIf you are referring to the Christian faith, the canonical understanding is that Mary was the mother of Jesus. To have a human woman impregnated by a god was a fairly common template in Roman mythology.
It has ocurred to me that the creator of the universe would not be so petty as to kill his son (who has no mother) to pay for sins, that the creator knew would happen.

@caesar-salad saidJesus supposedly existed forever, as God's son, with no mother, before Mary.

@chaney3 saidAh. Good point! The original motherless child.

@caesar-salad saidSingle parent families ... always trouble ....

@chaney3 saidShort but I think its a nice answer on why things were setup this way. I'll get you another for sins.
It has ocurred to me that the creator of the universe would not be so petty as to kill his son (who has no mother) to pay for sins, that the creator knew would happen.
Short also necessary part of the answer
To give us the ability to choose He has setup us for right and wrong.
If we choose wrong, God's justice and goodness require we pay for our crimes.
If we by making choices find we are unable to rise above this, we are doomed.
God seeing the need in the universe created did the only thing that could be done to save us from our sin before a Holy God. Jesus paid in full for all of our crimes before a Holy God, and is the only way we can come to God.
If only real love matters, only real choices to give our lives to God matters, and only a real God within us can alter us to the ways of God, then what really matters is God. He is the source of all, to attempt to do this on our own is never going to answer all the requirements within reality.
@rajk999 saidAs an aside and based on the adage “we are what we post” I think that the people aspects of these forums, the casual dishonesties, the pretensions, the intellectual posing and the jostling to be ‘seen’ to be with the in-group, are the more interesting aspects of this community.
Small minds enjoy discussing people.
Get out of the gutter.

@chaney3 saidThe traditional Christian view is that the creator is the son, and that was God on Earth.
It has ocurred to me that the creator of the universe would not be so petty as to kill his son (who has no mother) to pay for sins, that the creator knew would happen.
The three parts of God do exist, but it is also God who is dying.
